56 f 600 ex fire truck, no fire equip. left, just the fire body made by FMC. original 272 with 48k 4speed main trans and I added a 4speed auxillary trans with overdrive and eaton 2speed rear end with 6.33 ratio. In top gear I turn about 2700rpm at 55mph. Im looking for an eaton with a 5.14 ratio so I can do some freeway driving.... if you get behind me be patient Im shifting

I have an Eaton 2 speed axle also. It's got a 5.83:1 ring and pinion. According to my chart they only made a 6.33 and a 5.83 ratio in the F-500/600's
What axle did the 5.14 come in?

Just got into it-
I bought my 56' F-500 at a farm eq. consignment sale- from the orginal owners son for under $500 with alittle over 42,000 miles on it, runs and drives great (272- 4 speed/electric 2 speed rearend). Plans are for a custom oak flatbed with a hidden 5th wheel plate. The truck will get totally restored and painted up like a 50's John Deere dealership equipment delivery truck. I'll use it for my pulling tractor and to take some of my antique deeres to shows. Now I just have to figure out the color scheme, thinking black fenders, green hood- the hood line will follow straight back across the door, lower door will be yellow with a deere emblem and the rest will be green (MAYBE- I'm highly open to suggestions!!!)
I've got pics in my gallory of how it sits waiting to go into the shop this winter.
