Front ball joints clicking.

Hello all, went through a small mud puddle to get to my fishing spot. Got stuck due to bald rear tires (new ones are ordered) so as embarrassing as it was I had to kick it in 4wd. I climbed right out but in the mix of doing so the front ball joints were clicking something feirce. Now do i need to replace the whole axle, is it possible to replace the joints only? Whats the most cost effective fix without jeapordizing quality? Last but not least let me know where to get these parts from if online shopping is best. Thanks, Kev

ball joints dont click, and they dont go bad by putting the truck in 4 x 4 one time. you need to do an inspection underside and see what is going on. you might have a CV joint squeeking or something. but you need an inspection to see what is actually going on.----- the ball joints might be worn, but that happens over 50,000 miles , not 1 pull.

wrong wording

as it stands im no mechanic, cv joints is what i probably should have said instead of ball joints. they could have been bad when i bought it just that it was the only time i needed 4wd so far. until these tires come in im trying to stay away from fun messes. however i will get the inspection and post what i find
