2000 F-250 7.3L 4x4. The front hub dials to switch from auto to manual lock are hard as heck to turn. Basically have to use a set of pliers to turn them. I just had new rotors and bearings replaced on both sides. The hubs were hard to turn prior to that as well, so it's not caused by the maintenance. I was actually hoping a benefit of the bearing/rotor replacements would be the hubs would turn easier, but no such luck. Any ideas?

 

I don't know how long you have owned this vehicle or if it ever turned easily since you had it. The only thing I know of that can cause this is too much grease it the bearings. Maybe someone from the previous brake job packed in to much grease. Anyhow that is my only guess. Someone with more experience should be along soon with more or better advice.

 

Either thefonz#1 is right, or it has never been greased at all...Safest bet, just to take off the outer part of the hub and see how much grease is in there, too littl, add some, too much, take some out.
