Buying opinions

Here's what I have-'94 F-350, 460, crew cab. I bought it to tow a travel trailer that I just sold. I like the truck but I'm not sure if I need that size anymore. I'm thinking of going to a F-150/250 in the 97-03 years. I get between 8-9 mpg with this one. In general, what kind of mpg do you all get? I did a search and found some info but I'll take whatever you can pass. The catch is, being up north, it needs to be 4wd. I'd like crew or extended cab. If there isn't to much of an increase, I'll just keep the F-350 since it's bought and paid for but I'd like some feedback anyway. Thanks.

Cudi, i had a 1989 F250 heavy duty with a 351 that was one fine truck. got 13 MPG and could pull anything you could tie to it. Got to 250,000 miles and i was facing the same thin you are. I wanted a crew cab and was afraid a F150 would not cut the mustard. I had the F250 well over 12,000GVW many times, hauling sand, rock and whatever. Thought i could not do without it. ------ Finally sold the F250 and got a 2001 SuperCrew 4 wheel drive with a 5.4 V8. It gets 15.5 MPG in the winter and 17 in the summer at 65 MPH on the highway. Also has twice the power and takeoff of my old 351. THe 4 wheel drive is handy for climbing the hill at the back of the house to get to the barn on top. I can pull a 7000 pound car trailer at 75 MPH better than the old F250. The F150 problaby gets 12 PMG pulling the car trailer with 1/2 a load. The F150 has a 5.5 ft bed and wont hold 3-4 tons like the F250 did, but i have changed the way i do things. Hauls 1500 pounds real nice, more than that, get the trailer. You would be real happy with a newer F150 Crew 4 wheel drive. Get the 5.4 V8.
