Fuel tank size with Harpoon mod?

Aproximately how much fuel will a full tank hold with the harpoon mod on my 2000 F350? I have done the Hutch mod and the Harpoon mod and the fuel guage stays on F for a long time (100 miles or so) and at my last couple of fill up when the fuel guage said 1/2 tank, I put in 19-20 gallons to fill it up?

Yes I have noticed the same thing and I'm sure others have also. I'm guessing but maybe 2-3 gallons more. You could possibly remove the sending unit again and gently bend the float in an attempt to re-calibrate it. Just an idea.

It's been a while, but I think I put about 26.5 gallons in my tank after I did the harpoon mod, and there couldn,t have been more than 3 gallons in ther when I filled.

I guess we are all talking about short bed pickups with the 28 gallon tank here, but I usually fill at about 1/4 tank and put in 21-22 gallons, so my gauge is pretty accurate at that point. It does stay on full for about 100 miles, the drops pretty quickly.

I have the short-bed and the smaller tank. I had about 4 gallons when I dropped my tank. After the mods I drove to the gas station about 10 minutes away and filled up with 28.5 gallons. It's rated for 29 gallons but I can probably fit a little more.

I do love the fact that I can fill up quickly now, and cramming all that fuel in there I don't have to fill up quite as often. Typically I go well over 100 miles before dropping off the "F" mark on the gauge, and about 300 miles by the time I'm at half a tank.

I'd say that's about right. I've got the big tank on my long bed, but when I'm at half tank on the gauge, I can usually fit around 25 gallons in.

I've got a crew cab , 8' bed with a 38 gallon tank. I have put 40 gallons in when extremely empty. I am planning on harpooning the tank in the next couple of weeks , I can count on putting even more fuel in? Question about the procedure , will I need to raise the truck up to complete the job , or will I have enough room setting at ground level. Thanks

You can do it without jacking up the rear, that's how I did mine. Some say it's easier if you jack up the rear 'cause you can sit upright.

It's also easier to manuver the tank out when the truck sits higher. Remember there's a frame rail on one side, and driveshaft on the other. You need room to completely drop it out.
