door locks

I'm getting ready to fix my doors, and I was wondering if anyone has done anything about the door locks.
I was thinking about power locks, but the factory locks don't look like they would be easy to modify.
I would also just consider putting a lock on the drivers door, but I would really like the power locks.
Does anyone have any good advice about what to do with the door locks on these trucks?
This will be a daily driver so I will absolutely need door locks.

Fix,

If this is about your '45 PU then you should have forward locking on your inside door handles and the easiest route for a door lock is to put a new lock into the right door and lock the driver's door from inside and use the passenger door lock to lock from outside. One thing, don't lock the passenger door from inside and then close it. It won't unlock with the key, at least, mine won't. If you need help with replacing the outside door lock then ask and I'll go through the process.

nope.

I am fully aware of how the locks work. They are exactly the same on my 41 as they are on the 46.

Since this truck will be a daily driver, I would like to be able to unlock the door without sliding across the seat everyday. Power locks would fix the problem, and I think that is the route I will be going.

I did find some after market power lock kits, but they are very expensive. I'm still looking at other options. I have looked at several factory power lock instalations, but these door locks just don't work the same.

As for removing the door lock, I have done it before when re-keying my 41. My 46 however has the set screw rusted solid, and stripped out, so I will be drilling that out and hopefully retapping it to accept a new set screw.

Rusty stuff ussually amuses me, but this is just getting annoying.

Thanks
