aerodynamics
Ok Ranchero gang... I'm building a '67 Ranchero that hopefully will eventually find it's way to Bonneville. Chassis and engine isn't a problem.....What I really need is some advice from someone who understands aerodynamics a bit too offer some advice on the body mods..... Anyone ever heard of any "virtual wind tunnel" software or anything that could help me a bit? Oh yeah, couple pics of the car in my gallery.....

You could do the Talladega treatment. Look at some Talladega Torino pics. I know they're a little different from the 67 Fairlane nose but what the heck your putting Mustang sides on it. Can't really tell but did you shorten the bed or is it a camera angle illusion. Looks like it will be a very cool ride when finished.

Although I do have a degree in Mech Eng. I dont claim to be a specialist in Aerodynamics but these tips do work:
Make everything flush on the body, meaning recessed grilles and headlights are bad (the talladega nose did this), but protuding headlight are good (like small nose cones)
Shave any door handles and make the glass flush to the body.
Fab a ram air setup like the cowl induction on the 70 Chevelle, the base of the windshield has the highest pressure of any point on the car. Use an air vent to let underhood pressure out (hood louvers or side vents farther back and sides are better) this will also aid in cooling
Box in the bottom of the car, ie a flat plate the lengthof the bottom (flush again)
Keep it low as possible (it lowers the frontal area or the box of the car)
You have choosen a truck body style which no matter what brand you use will suck, the reason for this is behind the rear window and behind the tailgate form right angles with horezontal and the air just cant turn to to create pressure at the rear, so you have negative pressure on those surfaces that actually pull you in backwards, in the front this is not so much a problem because theres extra pressure to direct the air where it has to go. That said buid some sort of truck cap in a fast back shape. You could use plexiglass with 3 pieces, the center piece a triangle (make the bottom piece the width of the roof tapering down to a point that touches the tailgate) the other 2 pieces close the box. The net shape should look like the rear of a 64 Corvette. Good luck with your project. I think any form of racing is cool *****
