Question Stone chip repair?

Anyone have tips on repairing stone chips in the paint?
Sure, I can dab some touch up paint on the spots in question, but I want to do what I can to ensure it won't rust there. I don't mind that the painted spot may not be perfectly smooth, I just want to make sure it doesn't rust.

Rust is not going to be a problem unless the chip goes all the way down and exposes the metal. If this happened then there are a couple of products you can try.

POR15 (stands for "Paint Over Rust") is designed to actually react with rust and lock it under a protective coating. If the metal is exposed you might wipe it clean with a solvent like Prep Sol (a cleanser used before painting), let it sit over night to blush a light oxidation and dab a POR15 product into the chip before finishing it with body shade paint. Hammerite is another rust preventative paint that dries nearly bulletproof.

Alternately a wipe with metal prep (an acid wipe) will thoroughly reduce any existing rust. Once dry dab in a primer and finish with paint.

Good luck
