My husband recently bought me my dream truck with everything on it the salesman said I would need to go down the road with NO problems pulling my 3horse LQ trailer. King Ranch F350 drw,6.0psv8turbo diesel,4.30ls tran, tow boss,etc...With less than 500 miles started to drive empty about 400 miles to pickup horse. Trailer was empty and at first it just bounced then it begin bucking(for lack of better word). Called dealer as soon as they opened but had to leave message. With no other options I loaded that poor horse in the middle slant (over the axles) and headed home. The truck started bucking so bad tailgate came open and you no the rest of the story...Bucking truck, have to replace tailgate and ford says NOT OUR PROBLEM! Trailer manufactor says tongue weight is within ford quidelines. Trailer pulls fine with 2004 dodge3500drw and 98 chevy 1tondrw. With all the money we spent I cant believe we would have to pay for air bags to pull 9000#s.
You likely have an engine problem. Not a towing capacity issue.
Check for oil overfill to start with. Your oil should be at mid hash marks on the dip stick.
The EGR Valve could be malfunctioning. It may be stuck in the open position or is receiving an erratic command to open when under load conditions.
Your truck is young. Get it to the dealer. If they cannot duplicate the condition, hook up your trailer and take 'em for a ride...I wouldn't bother telling them to "hang on".

Yeah, I had the same problem with my tranny. It was a Ford reman that was having some issues, so I told the quality engineer to get in, shut up, and hang on. After a drive around town and some on the freeway, he immediately ordered me a new tranny. No problems since. All you have to do is prove to them that a serious problem exists and that they need to fix it. But some of them have (for lack of a better term) the "testicular fortitude" to tell you "that's normal" and nothing's wrong. You may have to put up a fight, but I'm sure once they drive it, it'll be painfully clear as to what needs to be done. Hope you've made some progress. Take care.
