1970 model question

I was wondering, did they make a crew cab or extended cab in 1970? I am wanting to remodel a 1970 either an F-250 or F-350 and customize it to haul a 1970 airstream travel trailer. I would need to find out if I could stick a diesel engine in it, also.

Ford made a crew cab in '70 but not a super cab. You can do just about anything with respect to engine swapping...just be prepared to have your checkbook ready.

I have one

Your article caught my eye, because I have a 70 f-350 and pull a 1973 airstream with it. The way they match is excellent. You will have to build a bed however to fit the frame and dual tires. Its easily done and looks great.
When you build the bed you will have to cut out the inside fender well, and install flares on the outside. I used a set of dually fenders from a dodge truck, obviously there are many ways to make it work and you will have to choose what is best for you. Also when looking for a bed find one with dual tanks and the carge hatch on the side it makes installing second tank much easier, you did not mention if you have p/b or p/s, these are a must have item and are simple to install. It sounds like you need to find a good wrecking yard and just go shopping, or find an f-350 camper special and strip it like I did.

Somewhere I saw an old '67 to '72 body on a newer PowerStroked F350 dually chassis. With time and determination, you can do anything.

Wow - this thread was last active in 2001 - and the guy has only made 3 posts!

The neat thing (must be a bug!) is that his profile show his last activity as;
"Last Activity: 12-31-1969 07:00 PM".

Donald, welcome to FTE. Please set up a gallery so we can see your modifications - there has been several questions on running dual wheels.
