Exclamation need driveshaft code explained fast please

i got a two piece driveshaft from a fte member when i did my zf swap. the driveshaft and the zf were from a 1988 f250 300ci 2wd. because im using a dana 60 instead of a sterling 10.25" the driveshaft is nearly fully extended and the slip joint has visual slop in it that produces a vibration.

i have the code from the sticker on the driveshaft and would like to find out what it came from, as i cant get the driveshaft from any parts stores.

E8TA 4K145 YA

how much would it go for from a dealer, if they have it?
how much to have the stub spline replaced and a new slip yoke from a driveshaft shop?

A dealer would be very pricey. I would search for a driveline shop and have them make a new one for ya. Matter of fact you are going to have to have a custom drive shaft made because the set up you have was never offered by Ford. It's the rear D60 axle that makes the drive shaft to short.

The splined part can not be extended. The only way to get a longer drive shaft is by getting a longer tube and using your old splined set up, if you haven't already ruin it.

The vibration is due to the lack of support in the slip joint area. It's only a matter of time before it fails and falls out of the truck.

i know my combo makes the driveshaft short but not that short where some of the splines are showing past the seal. the seal is about 1/2" from the splines so the slip joint is fully engaged.

I guess I read to far into your post. You can have just the slip spline pieces replaced on your drive shaft and a drive line shop. How ever keep in mind that when the suspension travels that last 1/2 inch isn't very much.

the 1/2" is from the fully extended position not the fully collapsed position so im fine as long as i dont put the truck on a two post lift.
