Performance on dyno translates directly to performance in the vehicle. I don't know how it couldn't. I will say that my K&N could be giving me 20 horsepower in my 7.3 psd, but you'd never know it in a 6,000 pound truck. You would notice that 20 hp though in a 75 Pinto with a 460....that is if you ever got traction. I guess it would just make you go off the road all the sooner. I wonder if that is what Monster Baby had in mind as far as off road goes?

How funny. I set up a toyota 4x4 pickup for that in the 90's with a chevy 350. I always won the mini class in North Carolina when I lived there - hands down. Finally they kicked me out of that class and made race the big boys. I still won every once in a while. Big engines bolted into light things are really fun - no matter what the brand. Indidently, I still have the truck, but it has yurned turned into a daily driver. Still has the 350....very fun to drive, or should I say scary?

Well making mine street legal would be a whole lot difficult (actually impossible) f150 frame shortened, full size axles makes the tires stick out a little too far. rear suspension is totally fabricated, and the body is totally stripped and gutted, no wiring lights, dash and even the inner sheetmetal is gone. As to the motor, it's a 528cid stroker, not actually a 460 running 13.4:1 compression and about 900hp (for now anyway).
I run in the Pro Modified, and open/outlaw 4x4 truck classes, I win a lot, and consistantly in the top 3 in both classes even though I don't run Nitrous in the classes that allow it, totally NA. All Throttle, No Bottle.

Rob, I'm sure your 528 started life as a 460 before it was stroked, I have a hard time remembering it's cid, so it's just easier for me to say 460, I ment no offense, just bad memory ha ha.

No offense taken, in fact most times I don't even bother to correct unless interest is there. Yes mine started life as a 460, and actually originally came out of a 16 passenger van. Talk about a change of direction for that motor.
But hey the new motor (just started ordering parts for it again) will not have any factory original parts in it that were ever used in a production engine. Current engine only has block, timing cover and damper spacer. new one won't have any of that, already have a aftermarket block (FRPP A460 block) a Nicson timing cover, and an alum spacer.

Dove manufacturing down the road still make all versions of the ford 427, even the 427 sohc if you ever wanted to try an FE big block, the 427's were king of the FE's. They bought tooling from ford, thier even allowed to use ford part numbers and emblems on thier engines, I guess thier allowed, any how, they do. I wouldn't mind having a 427 in something, I just don't know what, perferably something older I think.

to get back with the thread topic, I read a quote from Gale Banks the other day on his site. It went something like this "If you can pop the hood open and see the air filter element, its wrong."

Back OT now, I saw a suzuki samurai, the old ones with the fold down winshields. It had a 460 and fullsize axles running 44s. The thing looked like insane fun!

The K&N Cold Air Intake is a great way to make you feel like you have something going on under the hood without dropping all your cash down for a turbo. I have one for my 1995 F350 460, and all it did was help make that engine roar more, but the power is unaffected, it also whistles, which makes a man feel good. So, I will give it that, it sounds kick ***. If you expect to get power from your air filter, your looking in the wrong place, its just a method of breathing.

i bought a k&n cold air intake filter system for my 2006 ps, ran it for 12k, took my truck to ford for warranty work and they had the turbo apart and they showed me the dusting on my turbo impeller, that was caused from dirt passing thru the k&n filter, i took that junk&n system off sent it back to k&N for a refund, put my ford system back on in my opinion this filter is sucks for the diesel, if i ever go after market intake/filter system again it will be with afe stage 2 with pro guard-7 filter. thats my 2 cents on k and n............

I put a K&N Cold air intake into my truck. the thing is amazing, any one whos knows or is into performance knows that this thing rocks. I put it on my 1995 7.5 v8. The thing is amazing when slamming the gas, it makes so much noise, and whistles while accelerating, people think i have a turbo because were moving so fast, and making so much noise. Of course in order to get maximum horsepower and MPG, you need to have a full exhaust system. Its sad to hear how no one talks about how cool these filters are.
