I'm sitting in northern pa, it's down pouring, and i cant see to drive...
I cant control the temp control, you know the one in the middle. It's stuck at full heat, so when i turn it on, it gets too hot in there, so i open the window, well it starts fogging up, so i turn the heater on, and bam, the window is so foggy for about a minute, i have to pull over. I need good instructions on how to fix this as soon as possible. i'm up here driving 150 miles a day, between my grandparents house, and the nearest hospital. it's on a 94 Ranger with the 4.0 5 spd. This is my Grandfathers truck, who needs to go to the hospital. i drove my Dodge up, but it's too big for him to get into. PLEASE HELP!!
First, run the air conditioner- it will dehumidify(and clear) the windshield very quickly. Unfortunately, you're still going to have to deal w/ hot air. De-humidifier(A/C) works down to 40 degrees I believe.
2nd, clean the inside of the windshield and you'll have less fogging.
3rd, you can use a fog-free product on the inside of the windshield. I've used the rain-x wipes with a certain amount of success. They work well at first. When the windshield gets dirty it's almost worse. Now I just try and keep the interior glass clean.
Good luck and hope you stay dry.

Reason: correct grammar
Any other suggestions would be apperciated. it's kinda sdangerous driving like this, and i would drive my truck if he could get into it. i know it's laborday weekend, but i'm in a real crunch here.
Look in the "Technical Info" thread, located atop this forums main page.
In there you'll find a link with pictures to do a "blend door" fix. That sounds like your problem. It'll also show where you can look to confirm if you have the "blend door problem".
Run the compressor with the deforst on; removes moisture from the air. Blend door on vintage Rangers is not the same as 95+ HVAC units so the classic blend door fix won't be applicable. However, you should also check blend door operation, just in case that old fashioned cable setup broke or came loose.
Well, i'm through driving that truck for now. but maybe next time i come up i'll fix it for him. thread finnished, unless someone wants to post instructions for me to print and leave with the truck do i can fix it next time.
