Winter storage for my 1971 f-350

I am getting close to putting my truck up for the winter. What are the best things to do so that come spring she will be appreciative to come out of hibernation. I do live in Vermont where it can get cold in the winter if this matters. I will also be able to put her in a barn under cover. Thanks, Greg

I stored mine over previous winters and found that if I ran it at least once a month, it needed no preparation other than new antifreeze. Oh, and lots of mouse bait!

1. fill the fuel tank FULL. add fuel stabulizer.
run the engine to get the `new` fuel to the carb.
2. remove batery to a warm place and charge properly.
3. set the FRAME on jackstands with the tires `just` off the ground.
4. build a frame to Cover the truck. then tarp it.
5. take the antifreeze down to - 20
6. Restart it every 90 days if you can. Run it till the coolant is hot then 15 min or more.
7. spray around it with insect killer and slide mouse bait under the frame/ on the ground.

Greg, Are you saying that you can't find a day once every two or three weeks that you can't take your truck out for a short period. Some of the guys are taking some pretty hard lines for the winter, IMHO. Ford trucks are run all winter long in Alaska and Canada.

I will admit to never spending more than a couple days north of North Carolina in the winter, but would think that if you removed the cover and cranked the truck and run it to run temp, every two weeks, you should not have a problem.

My conscern is keeping her out of the salt. They cannot use enough of it here when the snow flies and she is in too good a shape. I am involved in the snow skiing industry professionally , so come the 1st of October I have to change hats and trade my truck for my van.
