I have 1500 miles but have yet to hear Chirping. I will keep an ear on it, however, my pulleys squeek until they get to normal operating temperature.

The squeak, chirp, etc. in question is not belts; it does it at cruising speed, on decel, and will do it at idle if you goose it (makes noise as you let off). It comes from the top rear of the engine best I can tell w/o using stethoscope and just listening.

The noise reminds me of squeaky idler bearing or A/C bearing.

I would not worry about a belt squeak if it only occurs when shutting the engine down; mine doesn't do this but I've had other diesel engines that did.

My 04 did have a squeaky belt which was replaced under warranty with a "stinky" belt! that did not squeak.

Well went in the shop today for an ABS issue and mentioned that my chirp is getting louder and more pronounced when I shut my truck off. Come to find out the belt tensioner wasn't working correctly and letting the belt slip when shutting down. They replaced that along with a new V-belt.

Works like a champ now and its quiet. I should have mentioned that a long time back.

Chirp is from belt tensioner pulley on our 6.0 a little wd-40 whenever noise is heard and instsantly goes away. The pulley just need some help with lubrication anf ford does not accomodate this because they would not sell as many replacement parts look at the ball joints no grease fitting there and not well greased at the factory!

The type of chirp some of us are talking about is not pulley/belt related. Suspicion is the HPOP.

Thumbs up Chirp

Agreed. Injectors or HPOP.

The chirp is getting louder (or maybe it's me) and sounding more metallic, I wonder if it is affecting other components.
I'm still waiting for the arrival of the new part that is supposed to cure the chirp.
My service tech (after replacing the belt, two pullies and an arm) explained it was a high pressure tube and Ford is fabricating a replacement. Should come any day now, will update thread when I see (hear) the results.

Angry Chirp update

Had to update this thread....
Dealer is now stonewalling me on this new and improved hpop replacement part that is supposed to be coming to cure the chirp, telling me Ford has placed the item on "indefinite hold", nothing they can do about it.
My service advisor also tells me he has three other customers waiting with the same problem.
Has anyone with this noise had it resolved?
For now I have to run the fan on high or the radio volume up to drown out the damn chirping, it's louder than the diesel noise I paid 6K extra to hear!
This started at 600 miles, now 4K on the truck. I threatened to park this big bird and demand a new truck all I received was a blank look like it was the first time he had ever heard that statement from a customer.
I'm going back in this week and speak to some bosses boss until I get a few direct answers......will keep you informed.

Since the HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) is gear driven, why would the chirping noise go away when you are decelerating and the engine is de-fueled? The HPOP is always pumping.
