Machine shops Texas

I'm hoping someone here can offer a suggestion on a good machine shop to rebuild my 292 yblock. I don't want to trust just anybody to build it for me. Maybe someone out there knows of someone that is really familiar with these old yblocks that takes alot of pride in what they do. I just don't have the time or the place to do it or I'd do it myself. It still runs good, but is starting to get a little tired. Its a 1959 block with the big valve heads. Love this motor and I want it built right! I'm located in the San Antonio/Austin, Texas area. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciatted! R.E.

Ted Eaton, Lorena, Texas 1-254-857-3339. He is a specialist in Y's and FEs. Does balancing and other work. Dont know if he has a full complement of milling machines or not, but he can set you up with someone who does.

y block builder

Thanks for the information. I'll definately give him a call. Take it you're in Texas? I'm also looking for a honest body shop in the vicinity if you know of anyone. I'm working on a 63 F100 4x4 and need a good body man that takes pride and knows these old Ford trucks. Thanks again! Roger E.

Cant help with the body shop, I'm in Oregon. Have to do my own body work, because either it is done poorly by someone else and costs too much, or it gets done well and then costs way too much!

Call Lonnie Putnam @ 254-865-9237. He does the boring, head work, engine assy for Ted Eaton. He built the engine that is in the roadster that Ted runs.
