Tool For Removal of EGR Valve

Tool For Removal of EGR Valve
I've read of other people use of homemade tools to remove the EGR valve on, in my case, a 6.0 diesel. It looks like the valve has a pressed fit. Is it pressed in?
I've read the TSB about cleaning the EGR valve.
Is there an tool designed specifically to remove them( besides a hammer!).
TIA

The good old fashion "Pry-Bar"... that a big hammer is all one needs for auto/truck repair... and a 6-pack!!!

On my 04 I rotated it just enough to get the two mounting tabs to the side of the mounting bosses of the manifold; then used two small (about 6" long) 'wonder' pry bars between the manifold mounting pad and the valve bolt hole tabs. Comes out smooth and easy. You may want to consider getting the O-Rings from your dealer in case they tear as you remove it; mine did tear the time I had to remove it and manually close the EGR so my truck would start. I now carry the tools needed to remove the EGR in the truck.
Somewhere one of the Ford mechanics recommends vacuuming the manifold once you remove the valve and indicated that if a chunk of soot falls down and gets under a valve you may have a no start or hard start; but, usually clears its self once it has sat overnight. Don't remember which forum. Pretty nasty stuff to vacuum though.
