Another Engine I.D. Question

Hello! I recenty purchased a 1956 ****** that one the previous owners had installed a V8 into The engine is an old y-block (it has the 2 bolt valve covers). I would like to rebuild the engine, but I do not know what it is! I have been reviewing the threads here and some of the y-block sites to identify the engine. The only block ID I can find is B7ME6015A, which I would understand to be a 1957 Mercury. can anyone tell me about this, and what the cid is?
Also, it seems to have some kind of external oil pump that sits behind the pan(with an external tube that runs from the pump to the pan) . Does this sound right to anybody?
Thanks in advance!

I cannot answer your question, but this page may help. It has all the Y-block "block" numbers. There are also the head casting numbers and other good information on it.

I am probably reading it incorrectly, but it looks to be a 312 (62 and later replacement). Can that be correct? No clue. You better look. LOL

Pustman, welcome to the site and the world of Y-blocks? And what an intro into the Y's! Your motor does sound like a very rare one if it all checks out. A very late model 312 with C2AE main webs (extra strength). Dont let that get away.
Your combination is unusual too. Just think you may be the owner of a one of a kind match.
Yes that is the oil pump.

I really appreciate your help with this. It has been like decifering the DaVinci code with this engine! I plan on pulling the heads off for a valve job. Will the casting numbers offer any insite as well?
Are parts/gaskets for this type of oil pump readily avaialable?

Thanks Again!

With your unusual block, it isnt clear what heads would have originally been on top. Maybe 113's but that is just a guess. Let us know what casting numbers you find the heads to be.
Many Y's have had their heads replaced by sets other than the original over the years.
Parts are readily available for everything you may need to replace. New oil pumps are a better idea than rebuilding the old one.
Although your block sounds to be rare, all the regular Y-block parts should fit fine.

Pustman, Your profile says you are from California, up north or down south? In the
San Diego area there is a man that is known as a guru of y blocks, John Mummert, he is always eager to help and builds motors and sells parts If you need a phone number let me know. Gerry

Well, I removed the heads, and they have an "ECZ-G" ID. I removed the oil pan, and the main caps are ID with "ECZ-6329-A"
