Any Diesels or unique engines in 53-56 F-100's???
I'm looking for anyone with info. and images of any unique engines mounted and working in their 53-56 F-100's, especially diesels. I'll be posting the really unique ones on my website at F100Central.com. I used to own a 53 F-100 and had to sell it to get through school. I can't really afford another Effie right now, so I decided to build an F-100 website for 53-56's instead. I don't know if the website will have advertising on it some day, so make sure you're okay with me posting your photos and info. on a site that might advertise or sell F-100 stuff. You can send the photos direct to me at cwissmar1@neo.rr.com or let me know where I can get the photos and details on your truck. If you want your name and or state posted with it, let me know that too.
Thanks for your help in advance!

My truck isn't in the 53-56 range but I am a bit out of the ordinary. I stuffed the Caddy 500 in my 49. There are several diesel powered rigs around here, one guy even had a great video of his first test drive. I don't recall his name right now but maybe someone will come along with it shortly
Good luck

Mines not a F-100, it's a F-800. It has a CAT 1160 diesel in it. It's still a work in progress, but there are photos in my gallery. Feel free to view, copy, or paste them. I'll be updating them as more progress is made. By the way, the F-800 does have similar frame dimentions as the F-100, and so the CAT in my F-800 would probably fit in a F-100 (need bigger springs though).

hahahaha so true. the left side of my brain says "you can't afford this crap, just sell it and pay off some bills.. daggum you idiot, you have school loans to pay off and medical bills.. you're an idiot", while the right side of my brain is constantly figuring out what my next project is gonna be.. "mmm.. I need to get that bed fixed.. i need a welder... air compressor... hmm... body work.. rebuild that weak engine already.. you can pay for it all later :P"
ah heck.. I think the right side of my brain is winning

Cobraguy,
Thanks for coming up with the name. I remember the thread but for the life of me couldn't remember who it was that stuffed the 4cyl Detroit in their truck.

About not being able to afford an F-100.......I remember how much I spent on my first one. I should probably just block out that memory of the money spent altogether - hurts every time I think about it. If I got another truck right now, I might end up divorced which would probably mean my new toy gets taken by my wife. Some other guy would get my wife and end up driving my truck. Meanwhile, the bad memories associated with the trucks I love so much are piling up and I end up driving a car the size of my shoe for the rest of whatever. That's why I have to wait.
The real reason is I already built one and it was fine. The next one will not be restoration based. It will have to be way better than the first!!! I would like it to have independent suspension in the front and maybe rear among many other things...much more expensive than the first F-100. So, I'm saving!!!!

When you get ready, let us know. Most of us have a stock pile of parts, and most of us are willing to assist a fellow enthusiast with their trucking needs. I've got some more parts coming, and am not in need of most of them. In a couple weeks, I have to go to Nevada, and will be returning with two truck loads of Ford truck parts, including my dads 55 F-350 express pick up. I will be returning with an extra cab, an extra front end, and hundreds of small parts (clusters, heaters, etc.) I do not need most of the stuff I'll be bringing with me, but I will not let it go to the recyclers.
