Sounds too me like you need .140" longer pushrods to bring the geomitry all back to zero.... JMO..

Is the block an original solid lifter engine?? If the lifters you removed were solids, it cannot use a hydraulic lifter cam. The early blocks can be solid lifter only. Check the lifters you removed, if you still have them. Oh, are the rockers adjustable??

I think 58 blocks were solids, in 59 they went to hydraulics but still had adjustables if I remember right

If the pushrod seat in the lifters is the same height from the base, then it is just a different style I would think. As long as the pushrod geometry is correct there should be no problems, just make sure the lifter is not uncovering something in the bores that was covered by the old, taller lifters.

hiball, you are correct in the years you gave. There were more solid only blocks after that, but not many!!

i think they will work as the oil port in the new lifter is in same place as old when both lifters are sitting on their base. they just looked a lil strange when i dropped them into the lifter bores thanks guys
