So, I went fishing about 2 weeks ago, with a few friends (9 of us in total)
Was lots of fun, caught a number of Salmon, quite a few Skate (great on the barbie), and a few sharks...
Thought I might share some photos with you. You also might get to see one of my other hobbies (photography).
Here are some of us on the beach (90miles long, hence the name 90mile beach - we were there for 3 nights and didn't see another soul)
Me casting out...
Here is one of the places we went for drive (a dried up lake)
Sunrise... (thats an abatross)

My favourite photos...
One of the guys (Michael) with one of the sharks.
The "hammerthrow" - throwing the sharks back (the type of shark we were catching weren't good eating)
Andy (aka "the bogan") with a Salmon

And as usual...no clear pics of our lovable administrator from DownUnda! Nice photography too. One of my hobbies as well, although I haven't spent as much time with it lately. Digital sure does save on the processing though. I may never unpack my darkroom equipment again...!
Looks like a good time was had by all. I'd forgotten that you're coming on to winter down there, it's heating up to summer here.
Skate looks like a Stingray. Tasty, huh?!

350,
I like the photo of the sun peaking out on the whitecaps. Not much of a fisherman, i usually just go along for the boat ride. But very accomplished eater of fish, how about a good skate recipe.

Well, I am usually the photographer... So, I usually miss out on being IN the photos (you don't see me complaining though )

That it does - only just purchased a digital... was hesitant, but the convenience is just so much better...

Yeah - its a member of the ray family, but unlike the rest of them it doesn't have a barb or stingers.

Haha... I am a better eater of them than a catcher of them (I had the smallest "haul" for the trip).
As for a skate recipe. I just throw the "flaps" on the Webber pretty much straight away (we were eating the first one within 45mins of landing it). Put a bit of garlic, lemon, olive oil, oregano and sea salt on top. Simple, but comes out good.
Actually one of my favourite eating fish - as it has so much more meat on it than normal fish, and it has a LOT of flavour if cooked right... not to mention if you have to buy it, its usually pretty cheap (most people don't realise how nice it is).

That's right up my alley, good and cheap. I remember when you could buy the poor mans lobster for next to nothing (monk fish), it was a regular on my table. Then it was discovered, bye bye cheap.
Great pics, even though i prefer going to the beach for the girls (iŽll post some pics. sometime later). Also... of course you got the smallest haul!, all you did was taking photos!.

I agree, that is the good thing about Latin America and wait for your new beach pics. I would like to make it to your country someday, I hear the "beaches" are beautiful. Been down to Colombia a couple of times and there are many beautiful sites there!
