i've owned this truck for almost 2 yrs and put 25,000 miles on it-'77 f150 2wd 400 performer intake,holley 600dp carb,c-6 with 2.75 gear-usually run marathon and shell gas but filled up with sunoco and mileage is never over 12mpg no matter what-well got 14.4mpg around town,couldn't believe it-anyone else ever experience this

 

It can happen. Keep using the Sunoco!

 

I may have less ethanol in it than the other brands. Here in CA, brand makes absolutely no difference because the formula is so highly regulated.

1ethanol helps mpg
2 unless u live in the city u may not be getting the brand u want or think ur getting
3 if u get gas when there filling there tanks u get the dirt from the bottomof there tanks

Nope. Ethanol is there to help with emission. If anything, it will slightly decrease mpg since it has less energy than gasoline.

Assuming "daloot" neans 'dilute', this is utter non-sense.

 

I think what he means in #4 is the gas is separated in the pipeline between loads by water. The pipe line must pump a certain amount of the fuel at the end of a load and the beginning of the next load into what is called a slush tank. This fuel contains the water that separated the loads.
Un branded stations and station owners that are crooks by this fuel from the slush tank and a cheaper price and sell it. This fuel also lacks all aditives that the name brand station would add at the bulk plant before taking it to the station.

I personally always buy my gas from a reputable name brand station to avoid getting this slush tank gas. I get the best mpg from BP Amoco in my Fords.

Gasoline and water doesn't mix, so if you mix them, they'll separate. Alas, this isn't fully true for blends with ethanol, but it's still not something you can just mix with water.

They do not mix water with the gas. The water is in the same holding (Slush)tank as the gas and that gets pumped into your gas tank. Not good, and yes ethanol will absorb water.
