my truck was broken into and someone tried to steal it, so since they ripped out the ignition cylinder i need to repace the entire column. any suggestions or tips would be greatful. i found a column from a 1989 250 gasser, will this work?
Yes it should work...I installed a tilt steering colum in my 84, I was happily surprised how easy it was, mind you I had the entire dash out at the time...use a good manual for reference, I used haynes. lol
I did this job on my 86 F350 (read post on resart of 6.9 after sitting for months..)
The original colmn was all destroyed from a bad car thief.
Undo dash woodgrain face, remove lower trim
unbolt 5 screws at firewall (inside) unbolt steering shaft bolt,
un bolt two bolts holding colmn up to dash
undo ign plug and turn signalplug..
Yes a gas truck column will work fine.
hope that helps a bit..

My 91' sure could use one. There just is not enough legroom between the bench and the steering wheel which makes getting in and out of the truck a royal pain.
Hamberger, the tilt steering colum, as well as a/c dash, power windows/doorlocks came with the truck uninstalled when I bought the truck. There was a Ford Jobrite sticker on the colum, I think there shop is in Port Kels? They have ads in the buy&sell...I just found the # 604-518-3673 lol
