In the interest of keeping the length of threads small, I'm starting a new thread...
Someone mentioned the fact that a picnic is a lot of work. They are correct. Perhaps, as suggested, we go out for steaks instead? We'll need an approximate head count in advance if we expect to reserve space....

sounds like an excellent idea to me... We'll be in sometimes Thursday evening late and staying thru Sunday a.m. I vote for Friday evening or Saturday evening after the parade..although we might miss a few on Friday due to late arrivals... Anywhere you can find a decent and affordable steak and a salad for the wife is o.k. by me...
if we do it on Saturday I think most everyone would like to take a shower before dinner... the parade is 5'ish ..so 6:30 to 7:30 would probably work... and a good meal would be nice after the vinyl hot dogs at the show... eeeuuuuuu !!! Cholesterol keeps me away from meat most of the time... but for you guys, I'll cheat LET'S DO IT !!!

Can't do it Saturday evening. The awards show is Saturday evening.
I should be in PF with my son Paul from Thurs afternoon thru Sunday AM. We are staying at the Royal, a small motel at light #3, Wears Valley ? Road light.
2 votes for steak here. Last year I used some of the many many discount coupons, so, if there is no one choice, possibly might consider one with 10 or 15% off, such as Bennets Pit BBQ, a nice place close to the Grand, other side of street.
Some of the other discounts from last year were at the Alamo Steak House in Gatlinburg, and another similar place in Seiverville, but I doubt if we would want to drive that far just to eat, with all the places close to home base.
LAST EDITED ON 30-Apr-01 AT 09:25 AM (EST)[p]Looks like Jackie & I will be there again this year (That makes 2 in a row!). A sit-down meal sounds good and everybody likes steak!
<--I used "Jigsaw" not "jigsaw" and I STILL am shown as a non-member!
I like the idea of steaks instead of a picnic, however I won't be in until late Friday evening. My little girl's school schedule prevents my early arrival.
A couple of questions:
(1) Do we want to do this INSTEAD of breakfast?
(2) Since the awards ceremony will make it difficult for us to do this after the parade, do we want to eat steak before the parade? That would work for me, since the next opportunity I'll have to eat will be after the awards ceremony.
Let's hear some names of steak houses in PF. I'm willing to make a few calls if y'all can help me with some names. I'll do the same if we decide to do breakfast.
