Hi, I need to remove the side trim on my 72 Ranger XLT so I can bust some rust. Does anyone have any tips for easy removal? I want to put the trim back on later.

 

Ok, .... removing the trim isn't really all that hard to do. But you have to remember that although most of the trim clips are "snap on", there are some that you have to remove a nut from in order to get the trim off. The fender trim (front) have a nut at the very front and one at the very back of the chrome. You access the front one by reaching up under the front fender. And the back side by opening the door and reaching it that way. The same thing applies to almost all of the trim.... a front nut and a rear nut can be found.
Then all you have to do is pull the chrome off by lifting up on the chrome and pulling it away from the truck at the top at the same time. It pops off pretty easily that way. Don't worry if you mess up a clip or two. You can buy new ones from "Obsolete Ford Parts Inc." in Okla. if you need to. .... hope that helps.... Later!!
