Question 1995 F150 4X4 302 swap 300i need tranny info.

I had left an old thread asking for help with tranny problems and now I know why, I have the wrong transmission. I have taken out my 302 and replaced it with a inline six. I found out I have a AODE trans and I was told that combo will not work in my truck, and was told to look for a E4OD trans. Can anyone tell me if this will work or can aynone tell me what will work in my truck? I have a 1995 F150 4X4 automatic with a 300 inline six. The 300 come out of a 1990 F150 with a standerd shift. I have changed the wire harness to fit, the flywheel and the motor mounts. I also know the computer will not work because one is auto and the other is standerd. Can someone give me any feedback on what trans will work or what trans will be easy to work with? Thanks!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I also need to know what years will work and what years won't or what type of trucks. 150,250,350 ect.

I may have missed something in your posts, if so, sorry. But before you give it up for a different trans, go here and look see if you can find a separate controller for your trans.

I'm just guessing, but most 1995s with a 302 were mated to a 4R70W auto transmission. You need to determine for sure what you have. You can look at the transmission code on the door tag, but unless you know the history of the truck, there is always the possibility that it could have been changed. I think most of the I-300s were mated to an E4OD.
I DO know that a computer for a 4R70W will not work with an E4OD.
As for years, I have been told that you can only go down, as the wiring and computer all changed in 1996.

PS: If you can find a combination using an E40D go with that. The 4R70W has a high failure rate.

CT, I think you right about the E4OD's because cousins truck has a E4OD and it has a inline six and its a 92 F150 2wd. I was told the E4OD and the 4R70W was the same tranny because of the insides, is this true or false? I will still be looking for an E4OD trans anyway. Thanks for your time and info, have a good one!
