Bed Liner on Fenders

Just a thought as I was peering into engine compartment on my 65. Am going to clean up inner fenders and repaint. Have seen spray on bedliner in aerosal cans at hardware store. Would stand to reason, if you dropped a wrench or alternator or whatever, it wouldn't chip like paint, and the bubbled texture would mask any defects in the paint or rust. Anyone ever tried this and what were the results. Good or bad? Am thinking of doing this this Memorial day weekend, so any response would help me decide. Bill
