Just Had

We just had a couple your countrymen stay with us recently - on there way around oz as part of a two year 4wd fishing trip around the world!

They had a great time, wished they had alloted more time to do the distances so they could spend more time exploring places they liked!

They managed to circumnavigate the continent in just on two months, without ant crocks eating them in their sleeping bags in the middle of the night!

You can read about their experiences here!

http://www.flyfishingtheglobe.net/

I dare say - your chances of commin out alive would be proportional to mine of fishing Alaska and not getting et by a bear!
So - answer me something I never did understood about the good ol USA?
Just why is it - your constitution affords the right to Arm Bears?

Cheers!

They can't shoot them...

G'day all.

I'm in Waikerie;- Riverland area of South Australia

Just bought my first Effy;- an old tow truck. Six cyl, 4speed, Registered as F100 but has the 8 stud wheels, duals at rear.

Flywest... seen you on other forums down here too,

...and ya got it wrong on the yankee constitution. It's the right to bare arms...means they can wear short sleeves ... tee-shirts and stuff.

Thumbs up

G'day EdG60,

We are also in SA......down in the 'burbs of Adelaide. All information below is in respect of Ford Australia imported and Sold vehicles NOT US Imported vehicles sold outside Ford dealerships.

Your '69 should have a Ford Australia build plate on the radiator support or on the firewall. It should have the GVM on it probably 10,000 lb if it's a dually F350. 8,500lb would be an F250. 4500lb would be rated as an F100.

On our build plate it doesn't state that it's an F350 but is rated @ the 10,000 lb..

Also on the firewall, probably on the passenger side should be a number stamped. It will probably go something like this:- AK3JFA then a 5 or 6 digit body number. My research suggests that the "3" denotes F350 family. AK probabably denotes America Kansas plant and "J" for export with "FA" being Ford Australia.

My research so far suggests that up to 1966 all Ford effy's imported into Australia and Sold by Ford Australia were built in the USA, probably the Kansas Plant. After this date they may well have been made in Canada.

Your body number may confirm this (or not). The early F350's were 6 stud (up to 1966 anyway) with F250's being 8 Stud. Apparently in the US you could option a dual wheel rear on F250's up to about '69. I don't know if this was the case in Australia.

At least Aussie delivered F350's of 1967-68 vintage appear to be 6 stud wheels.

If you are in Adelaide and want to have a look at our project drop us an e-mail and we'll organize a time. We will also be up in the Riverland area for the Field days (Selling) in September this year.....we might be able arrange a look-see at your project.

Cheers............Barry.

Hey there Briney, I lived in Broken Hill until I moved to WA, went through Willcannia a few times but I hate NSW so I wasn't keen on going east.

Well if he doesn't work in a mine, he must be a hooker

- I am sure OzFTrucker can answer for himself, but if I recall correctly I am almost certain he mentioned previously he is a sparky in one of the mines.

No doubt with the current wages sparkies are getting over there, a few F-Truck restorations could be on the cards for him!!!

Yeah I was in the mines doing HV Electrical but Ive given that up after ten years at it due to far too many idiots in the game and the wages not going up fast enough. I'm now working in field service doing auto electrical mostly still on mining machinery, money still good but for the first time in years I'm enjoying my job.
