Elimination of Door Chime

I'm looking for a way to eliminate the door chime when the keys are in the iginition and the door is open. I know there is a way to disable it but I don't want to permanently disable...just sometimes.
A friend found a wiring diagram and installed a toggle switch in the drivers kick panel that basically cuts the power to the chime. His F-150 was a different year than mine and I don't know if the F-150's and F-250 use the same color wiring
I want to do the same thing but need to know which wire that operates the chime. Anyone know which wire or have a wiring diagram for a 2006 F-250.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Jerry

First, remove three phillips screws and the lower half of the plastic surrounding the steering column just behind the steering wheel. On the right hand side under the ignition key mechanism you will find a black wire that is sort of plugged into it. When a key is inserted this wire goes to ground and activates the buzzer you are referring to. I simply unplugged mine and put some tape on it, then zip tied it out of the way. If you want a switch, cut the wire in the middle and run each side to a toggle so that when the switch is in the on position the two wires are tied together.

That should do the trick.

Hey Mods, this might be a good one for the Tech Folder if its not in there already.

How about a work around for the seat belt noise maker when you are sitting in the truck without a seatbelt? That really drives me crazy. I work out of my truck and it really gets annoying while trying to speak on the phone and that thing goes off every 30 seconds.

06 F250 KR...

Thanks!

You can just do the sequence thing in the owners manual to turn that off all together. I forget what it is but there is a instruction in there to turn it off.

It doesn't seem to work on the '06 models even though it's in the owners manual. I just found a post that I'll try and report back.

On the next try when it tells you to buckle and unbuckle the last time I just kept doing it until the seat belt light flashed. It has'nt gone off sence. Also I disconected the door chime today, Thanks for the tip
