This is great! There's some excellent tips here on caring for your *****. For example, I had never thought to apply wax to them.

My ***** are iron, I had scratched my ***** quite badly in the past, then I began using synthetic grease, that has really minimized scratching my *****! I've considered covering my ***** with those rubber covers but I'm kinda lazy and just leave them out in the open. It just takes a moment to wipe 'em clean, grease 'em up, and put' em to work!

i use to have the aluminum ***** but would drag them on the ground when i stowed them, left some nasty gouges in the top. i changed though i now turn them sideways and tuck them underneath to prevent damage it also allows me two sizes i hate it when i need a bigger one and i left it some were. Ill try the wax has to be better than dry.

Bit the bullet and ordered the 5-3/4" Rapid Hitch unit w/Aluminum *****. Definately the most expensive drawbar I'll ever buy.

I'll post some pics of my ***** shortly.

You never know when you gonna need your ***** and it sure is handy to be able to use them at different heights and to have the right size for all occasions. I got this set here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALUMI...temZ8064170725

Yes, I have spent alot of money on my *****, but I am hoping that they will be the last set I need, since they are very versatile. These even have a built in lock, so nobody can grab my ***** without asking first. I don't need every Tom, Dick, and Harry abusing my *****. I just recently spent some time putting a nice polish on my *****. They really look great. I've been told I have one of the best sets of ***** in town.

Well, I can't stop laughing long enough to type! Hey I just learned a new trick from an old hand in my RV club. Have you guys ever heard of putting your ***** in a bread wrapper? Has to be the plastic sack that a loaf of bread comes in. Can't be anything else he said. Just tear off a piece a little bit bigger than the ball, five by five is about right for my 2 5/16th ball on my trailer and lay this on the ball and hook it up. No more greasy stuff on your britches leg while walking around the back of your truck. I been trying it for a year now and it works. No more scored *****. No more greasy hands. This thread is something else.

I was curious as to what I should use to clean xome long neglected *****, as they are really dirty. Is there any dort of ball washer system commercially available. These ***** were handed down to me and it's quite obvious that they weren't taken care of. I was thinking I'd use a wire brush and some diesel if I couldn't find a product. I was also wondering if anyone greases the reciever before sliding in the hitch.

What's really annoying is walking around the back side of someone's rig and banging your shin on their *****.

My wife keeps my ***** locked up! I kept bringing home more and more stuff so she took away my ***** so that I couldn't use them for anyone else anymore!! Now I have to ask really nicely to have a ball back to use. It's damned embarrasing.

This is one of the topics I've been able to read. I just can't read too well because of the tears in my eyes.
