Wider tires

I have a 4" lift on my 02 F250 and currently have 315/75r16 BFG ATs. They are too skinny for my taste. I would love to find a nice riding set of mud tires, but I don't play in the mud as much as I used to so I am more in the market for all terrains. I think my old 14x36.5r15 Hawgs would look good under this quite large truck, but I thought the brakes were too large for 15". I am looking around and Mickey tompson makes a wider tire. My Baja's rode terribley on my 89, has any tried the claw series? They have a 35x13.5r16 Claw. I am just causious of using Mickeys again, and I could not find a load rating.

Any other suggestion? I want about 35" tall and around 14" wide with no more than 2" less of tread width. I am sure I can clear a 36, but 37+ will take some more mods.

I found another claw. In the radials 375/65r16 14.7x35. But these only have a D load rating. The bias has a C rating.

LT35x14R16 E 128Q 21.0 35.24 15.16 10.0-(12.0) 3960@65 589
Is this E after the size the load rating? tires.com's picture looks nice. Any one have these and could tell me how they ride?

I was not too sure about Mickey Thomson Tires my self I wanted Toyo's but trying to find some good luck, they are a 50000 mile rated tire.

I was talked in to M/T ATZ the new genaration of M/T tires are 50000 mile tire so far they ride better than my old BFG AT 315-70-17.

The M/T ATX 37-13.50-18 have a good ride not nosiy but they only have 1000 miles on them as we all know most off road tires get louder as they wear down, tires do not pull or follows cracks in the road like wide tires tend to do.

M/T tires come In all types of weigth ratings mine are E rated 10 Ply look cool so far I been happy with them.

Like I said I had 2nd thought about M/T tires knowing about there past history on there old style baja claws but there new tires seem great.

But Toyo would of been my first pick.

I had looked at toyo, but I could only find 315/75r16. They showed nothing wider.

On a side note, 4wheelparts.com sells toyo.

I do like the way my Swamper SSR's ride, but I don't know how long they'll last. They're a little on the loud side, but they ride smooth, are radials not bias, and they come in a 35x14.5, 10 ply (E load range) size.

If you are going to get a Mickey Thompson tire I would stay away from the Radial Baja Claws. I ran them on my SD and they chopped up bad and wore out in 20,000 miles. The MTZ (mud) and ATZ (all terrain) look to be decent tires and are designed as a wide tire like what you are looking for. I have not heard how they wear or how they perform however.

Currently I am running BFG MT tires for the winter and won a set of Dick Cepek FC II tires that I am running for the summer. The FC II's might be another option for you. They have a 36x15.50R16 size. The tire is nice riding but I have not been impressed with them off road. If I hadn't got the FC II's I would have gotten Toyo or Nitto tires for my truck.

I can get Toyos for a good price. Does anyone have 38x14.50R16's on a leaf spring front end? How much lift did you need?
