73-76 Stepside Highboy

I saw this truck on the highway last summer and just now found my picture.

From what I could tell its a 73-76 (I never got around him to see the grill) F250 Ranger 4x4. The stepside bed looked to be original.

Did Highboys ever come with a stepside bed?

Whether they did or not, I'd give my left one to own that truck.

Looks like the bed is off a Dodge and the paint doesn't match.
I Don't think they made this at the factory.

You don't see too many LB stepsides, but I agree, that doesn't look factory or even blue oval.

It looks like a bed off the older Ford Trucks (50's or 60's). That's a Nice looking truck.

There were some 8' narrow beds made for the 73-79 pickups. I've only ever seen 2 and they were both on F100 2wd pickups. But anyone could've swapped them onto any long box pickup. That pickup may not have been made that way, but it does appear to be a 73-79 box.

it is nice but, it would look alot better if the paint matched and he either took the chrome off the front or put some on the back to make it look OEM....Neil

Probably original. That truck is a 76 or early 77. You can tell from the front hubs. According to my brochures, a long bed stepside was available for that year. Well it shows up on the 2wd brochure and I would assume that would apply for the 4x4's too.

After looking at pics of my bro's stepside, I have to withdraw my earlier post. It does appear to be ford fenders....and I think the gm's had a marker light in them

The paint DID match, its just hard to tell in the picture with the way the light is shining on it. It had a FORD tailgate.

If it's a 76 or early 77 is has to be a 76 because the F250 badge is on the fender and not the cowl.

Well, in light of this new info, may I retract my earlier posts? I haven't seen any LB stepsides around here. Possibly 3 SB though. Quite rare.

Thats a nice looking truck. I wish I had the long bed version! But I will stick with my shorty. And there is no way those are GM fenders, nor a Dodge bed. Thats all Ford there.

It is a nice looking truck and quite rare but i agree it looks weird with the chrome on the front and none on the bed and it would look nicer if the paint matched a bit better but thats just my opinion still very nice lookin
