fan shroud depth helps?

wondering about the fan shroud on my '64 ranchero....i see some sellers advertising a shroud that is deeper than the one on my truck now...will a deeper shroud make THAT much diference in cooling capacity? worth the substantial price???

The leading edge of your fan should be 1/2 inside the shroud for best efficiency. Beyond that, a shroud with bigger volume is generally better but that is a generalization.

If you have a factory shroud and you are experiencing an overheating condition, I would look at other causes first.

The fan should extend half the depth of the fan blades into the shroud. In other words you should see th back half of the blades and the front half should be inside the shroud.
