leaf spring question

i drive a 1990 4x4 diesel f-250.

currently, the front of my truck sags 4" lower than the rear. my leaf springs are pretty shot, and i want to correct the problem. an add-a-leaf isn't going to be enough, so i think new springs are in order.

i've been checking out tuff countrys leaf springs lately.
http://www.tuffcountry.com/leafsprings.html
they have leafs that lift the front of my truck 2". i'm worried that i'm going to have the higher in the back than the front look.

if 2" going to even be noticeable? or will it look pretty much level?

if anyone has any input or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

oh, and this question may seem dumb but...

the tuff country leaf spring has 5 leafs.

is it possible to remove a leaf if it's too high in the front?

Like chrono4, said, just lift the rear alittle. A 1 or 2" block cost about $30 w/ ubolts and are easy to add in.

If as you say, the springs are shot, then they may be sagging two inches. So the two inch lift springs should lift it two inches above normal ride height and should be just about the target height.

thanks a lot guys. i think i'm going to go with the 2" leaf springs and get blocks for the rear if i absolutely have to.

i also will have an add-a-leaf laying around i could throw in the back.

anyways, thanks a lot. i've got an excuse to increase my tire size a little now.

The truck comes stock with a little rack(higher in the back), and if you used add a leafs that would end up being better than blocks and even it out nicely.

Do a little searching and you might find a spring shop in your area. Not some place that orders springs, but a real shop. In my area, we have a couple. This is the one I use: http://www.benzspring.com/

Springs is all they do. They have a warehouse full of raw stock, with forges and benders - all sorts of goodies. Basically, you call them up, tell them what you've got - and they will make it. The service manager sits on the phone and plans lifts for people all day. The Jeep guys use them, as does the Forest Service. If you have a place like this in your area it's worth a visit, but Benz will ship.

There's nothing like having custom springs. When I bought off the shelf it was always "take what you get." I originally used them when I couldn't afford new. They were better than new and cheaper, too. (The website has some good info.)

Just make sure the springs you get are for a diesel, and not a gasser.

if you have to lift the rear...an easy thing to do would get blocks and ubolts off of a 85-97 f-350

4" versus your 2"
