Hello all you Bearers of Expedition knowledge. I have a 97 expy eddie Bauer with the 5.4L, it has the remote oil filter. Well, after searching the threads I see they all eventually leak so I need to fix my hoses which leak at the crimps. How about instead of replacing the hoses, just remove the whole remote filter and put the filter back on the engine block? I know I would need to replace the lower radiator hose, but what do I need to do to the engine block, a fitting of some sort? I am unsure, is this possible to do?

A good question, but I have no answer, perhaps someone else will.

 

I have a 1998 4.6 windsor with 4wd. There is no way for the oil filter to go back on the engine block. The hump from the front axle makes it impossible. You may want to get under it if you have 4wd to see if the hump on the front axle is the reason the installed the oil filter at the front bumper.

 

mine are leaking bad as well, I checked with dealer they wanted $275 for it, I found one on ebay for 179.95 with free shipping. here is the link
