the truck is an 05 f250 5.4L. I installed a DirectStart C423. the remote starter function works great, lights flash, horn beeps, truck starts and shuts off fine no problems. the problem is the keyless entry won't work. the lights will flash/horn beep but the doors won't actually unlock. here's how i hooked it up:

(starter) Yellow (negative unlock pulse / positive lock output) --> (truck)pink/green Door Unlock

(starter) white/blue (negative lock pulse / positive unlock output) --> (truck) pink/yellow Door Lock

i used the negative signals to install the keyless entry but the remote only causes the lights to flash and the horn to beep. if i had them backwards wouldn't the lock button make it unlock and the unlock button make it lock!?!

it won't do a thing..anyone know what's up?

 

someone help me!!! do i need to wire a relay in there for some reason!?! i don't know anything about electronics.

 

Since I've never actually installed a DirectStart unit I'm just going to give you the most likely reason it's not working. You need a relay. Chances are that your RS/keyless entry unit has outputs to lock/unlock that are in the 250-500mA range. Unfortunately, the truck needs 12 volts to lock/unlock. I'm assuming by the wires you're using that you only have power doorlocks and not a factory RKE system. If you have a multi-meter go out and check the vehicles wires your using for lock/unlock just to be certain. You'll more than likely need to hook-up 2 relays, 1 for lock and 1 for unlock to be able to activate the locks.
