AFE stage 2 air intake

Hey everyone, I was wandering if i could get some opinions on the AFE stage 2 air intake system. I have a 2003 F350 7.3 PSD 6sp, all stock now but was going to start changing that soon. There are bunches of intake systems out there and the AFE stage 2 is the is not the cheapest but i would like to get the best performance possible. Is this air intale worth the $? Thanks.

Most people here will say no way, do the quik filter for about $40 I think and spend the money on your exhaust and chip from Jody at DP tuner. I have the AFE stage 2 and I like it but I haven't compared it to the quik filter.

go with the AIS or 6637(Kwik filter) and save your money.

Also if you want good filtration with the AFE - you need to get the ProGuard-7 filters ($$$)

I forgot to mention that! Pro-Guard-7 is a must with this system for better flow and filtration. I have pics of mine in my gallery.

We sell both AFE & K&N Products plus lots of other performance products for your vehicle. AFE is a little bit higher. In our opinion there is litle difference betwenn the two.

don't get a K&N, they suck. I have an AFE stage II with regular filter and filter cover. According to oil analyses, the filtration is fine. If I had it to do all over again, I would have done what has already been said - save your money and go with the Kwik filter.

My 99 came with the stage II and I must admit I LIKE it, but unfortunately I must sell my truck. I WILL be getting another 99 or 00 soon (I hope), but if it doesn't have a CAI I will probably just go with the Kwik. That aFe is a lot $ that can be used elsewhere (just give it to Jody). I have to go with 'bang for the buck' unless I win the lotto (I won't since I don't play), so for me I'm sure the Kwik will suffice just fine.

Mine is the AFE Pro-Guard-7 filter. You can clean yours with about an $8 cleaning kit. If you want to replace just your filter I think it is about $40-50 for a new filter. Look at some of our sponsers at the top as I know they will have the AFE prodcuts. One of the filter covers will help quite a bit, but I can't get myself to spend the $38 for one when I want more HP right now.

I love my aFe system. They are pricey, but they are also high quality. I bought an extra filter also so when its time to clean it, I can do it at my leisure and not worry about it drying and oiling in a hurry. But if you do buy an Afe, like others have said, get the pro guard filter. The extra dust "sock" does keep the filter cleaner for longer periods but I find it is also very restrictive.
Its only $$$ and you can always make more. Buy what you want, and you'll always be happy.
