I dont know much about housings, but the smaller they are the quicker you spool... but you dont get as much high end boost? As well as higher egts?

Not sure on all that, but I know running stock is better..
unless of course you are altering your entire turbo setup then it all changes.

Smaller means quicker spool and lower high end boost.

Lots of guys throw the smaller housings on there and swear by it.

I'd rather just swear at their stupidity when I race by them and they cannot keep up.

If your running Multiple turbo's, this is a different thing, but stick to the stock size.

i wanna say stock OBS is 1.15.

1.15, i think your right. I guess im more concerned with economy than driving a race truck! I used to drive a 12v cummins and it just seems like with this 7.3 there is very little boost until you get to 2100 rpm or so, where my 12v would spool from like 1200... so is it just a quicker spool up or would it spool at any lower rpm? I may very well stick to the 1.15 im just curious about the technical details. OK, so heres another think... If I upgrade injectors, hpop etc would the extra fueling lead to more boost at lower rpms?

You'll definitely loose fuel mileage if you get to a smaller housing.

We have a HUGE difference in max RPM.

You can spin a 7.3 up to 3500 in stock format, while a cummins isn't anywhere close to that.

So, for our turbo's to start spooling around 1500-1800 isn't a big deal.

For a cummins to do such a thing would be really bad, because you only have a few hundred more RPM's to go before your topped out on a stock motor.

With an automatic, your truck will spool better at lower RPM's and hold them while its lugged vs a manual.

I run the 1.0 housing. No you won't lose mileage. With normal highway driving at 75 mph I gained a solid 1 mpg sometimes 2. If you stay with stock injectors the ever so slight rise in egt's will be insignificant. No you won't lose top end boost, I get 28 lbs on stock injectors. My boost starts at about 1500 rpm's instead of the 2000 rpm's with the 1.15 housing. There are a few guys running stage one's with the 1.0 housing and with good tunes keep the egt's in check.

Yes I did but keeping in mind that it is a very small town but any direction that you come into town is a fairly decent climb. I noticed an increase of 50*. Thank you. My plans are installing a Intercooler, superduty 17* Hpop, stage 1.5 rosewood injectors, and tunes by DP. and keeping the 1.0 housing
