Hi,

I had some water that seeped into my front differentail(vent tube cracked)which was drained today, finding it about 1/2 full of water. I am hoping the bearings arent shot, but if they are, i am thinking about swapping a solid front axle, with coils and radius arms etc. But, i have to make sure they are the same gear ratios.

I didnt find anything in the Haynes manual about the stock gear ratios on 1988 ford f150's. What are these stock gear ratios?

Open the driver side door and look at the tag on door jam.
"Axle code"

Code 18 or H8 = 3.08
Code 19 or H9 = 3.55
Code H5 or 25 = 4.10

 

didnt think that was possible on on 88? to swap a semi float to a solid axle...
