Rusted Bed Bolts on 2003 F150 FX4

Rusted Bed Bolts on 2003 F150 FX4
Hi I searched the forums but was not able to find any info on this?
I have a 2003 F-150 FX4 standard bed and the bed bolts are rusting. There 6 bolts in the bed,, 5 are rusting (the washers too) and just as I suspected took one of the bolts out and it is rusting between the washer and the bed. It's not a major thing but rust no matter how small equals cancer.
The truck has never had a bed liner of any kind and or hauled anything.
Looks like bad galvanizing, I'm told? These bolts cost $ 12-14 dollars apiece to replace and whats to say "new" bolts will not rust too? Can they be chromed?
I have looked at other pickup beds and notice some have the problem and the newer models don't? (maybe someone corrected the problem?)
Any info would be appreciated,,
