Auto Adjusters.

I have a 1995 F250 with a 460 and i was wondering how the rear brake auto adjusters work. do the use the e-brake cable to adjust or do they adjust by backing up. thanks.

i think each time you press on the brakes they click to the next tooth on the adjuster. as your pads wear they adjust to keep the shoe to drum distance the same.

That's right, but only when backing up. When the brake applies in reverse, it rocks the shoes and moves the self adjuster one click.
