Diesel conversion

does anyone here know a very basic estimate as to how much time, money, and work it would take to put a 95-97 ford powerstroke into a 1978 ford truck; including engine, tranny, transfer case, etc. any info would be great as this is a dream project that may never see the light of day, but i would like to know before i think any further about price and such. thanks

How much is a wrecked '95-'97 truck with the powerstroke in it undamaged?

Can you find one?

Can you do the work yourself?

Is your '78 a 3/4 or larger? If it's a half ton, you'll be doing some suspension work as well.

And this, I believe, is the tip of the iceberg.....

You don't already own the '78?

It would be easier and less expensive in the long run to just go buy a good running Powerstroke.

you could try swapping the cab/front clip onto the 95-97 ford. and then running a flat bet out back.
