dumb question i know, but i haven't ever changed the oil myself. i'm planning on doing it this week and was wondering how much to by. is it just the common 4-5qts.?

 

the 5.0 holds 6qts. so yours should be in that range too, don´t you have the O/M? check it down there, in the service section.

 

I've never heard of a 5.0l holding any more than 5 quarts but I could be wrong. According to the owner's manual for my 1995 Bronco, the 5.0l and 5.8l hold 5 quarts of oil.

 

5+1 for the filter.

 

My 1992 5.0 liter holds 6 quarts with a filter change.

 

I have factory the oil cooler thus the smaller filter. Books say 6 qts. w/filter but that overfills 1/2 so I use 5 1/2 for the top of the crosshatching. BTW, there are a lot of good comments here about using Motorcraft filter.

 

HAHA me and my buddy just did this not too long ago...yea dont be dumb and change the oil after driving the truck to discount auto for the supplies....yea that hurt...a lot

 

That is the same for me, it says 6, but the truck only takes 5 1/2.
