I was just curious what kind of oil anybody else runs in the 5.4 liter Triton engine. I think I am going to run Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend. Any ideas??? schmidty

 

I'd keep running what has got you to this point. I'm leary of using 5w20 in a motor that has run a thicker oil for a long time.

 

i would feel fine about using any 5w20 or 5w30 in that engine.

 

im currently using valvoline max life 5w30 works great in my 4.6

 

Use the 5w20 MC, you will be fine. I have been using the 5 qt. jug of MC 5w20 and a single qt. of Havoline 5w30 for my oil changes. That is because, 1) Havoline has more moly and posts great UOA's as well, and 2) Where I get my oil, the MC 5w20 quarts are always sold out and Havoline is almost always there.

and FWIW, my truck (5.4L) runs much smoother on the 5w20 than with the 5w30 for some reason. Good luck!

 

I'm using Castrol GTX 5w20 dino, runs smoother than the Mobil1 0w20 I had in it for the winter.
