What lift?

What lift?
I want to lift my bronco. I was looking at putting BF Goodrich All Terrain TAs on that are 35 x 10.50 x R15. Whats the smallest lift i can put on without the tires rubbing. It is a 1994 bronco eb 4x4. Also, should i get a body lift, suspension, or a lift kit to accomadate the tires

The FAQ's list tire sizes according to the amount of lift required to clear them. You have two options with lifts body or suspension. Personaly I have no use for body lifts they do nothing but interfere with the strutctural integrity of the truck in the name of getting a couple extra inches of tire clearance in the wheel wells. They are considered to be less expensive but require a good deal of tweaking of things that a suspension lift doesn't even touch. Suspension lifts are considered more costly but do improve ground clearance by more than just the increase in tire diameter. In short, suspension lift would be my recommendation but research the livin' daylight oput of the project before making a decision. Keep in mind too that moving from the stock tire size up to 35's is a major jump and will require re-gearing the axles unless you want a Bronco with half the kick in the pants and twice the thirst that it had before you lifted it.

32's are still ok and won't require any lift in most situations. But bigger than that and you begin to lose your passing a hill climbing power. I ran a 92 with 33's and the stock gearing and the mileage and the power just went out the window. I am going under the assumption that your Bronco is equipped with the OEM 3.55:1 axle gear ratio. 4.10:1 was an option in these trucks but its a rare one that late in the production run.

One option you have is to not lift at all and just use cut out fender flares. (bushwacker) In vertually all off road and on road situations, The less you lift, the better. (except in deep water fording) Off road, the bigger the tires, the better. Of course you must lift if the tires get to big. As far as the gear change, the milage actually gets better if your truck has the ***** to drive it in overdrive. The problem is most trucks dont, so you end up running in 3rd at 70 with the engine screeming. My old truck (302) was like that untill I changed to 4.56 gears. I think my new truck (351) would have done it, but I went to 4.88 with 38" tires.
