Mine was stock five years ago but is in pieces now for another year or so. It started with taking the cab off to repair the rust in the cab corners/floor and just went front there....
It will have a stock body with a front Mercury car clip and a 302/C4. I do have enough parts to make a stocker if I ever want to.

First let me say....mine is not for sale!

Second: Mine is fairly close to stock (not restored). I am removing a few leaf springs (not cutting anything) to soften the ride. I am installing a power brake booster under the floor. It has carpet and a headlliner. It has some guages under the dash. Other than that its close (I think).

Still has the 272 Y-block, 3 speed on the column, straight front axle, and D44 rear end.

I have a stock restored big window 56. I will try to post pics for you

Kevin Bigwin

These are all the 56's I own except the rollback I've sold it a few years ago. Every truck pictured has the orignial Y-block V8 engine. I race the black f100 small window. The panel truck has the v-8 with an overdrive trans (original).

I prefer a stock version. When I was younger I wanted to make the big window a hot rod and my dad wouldnt let me. Now I can say dads know best! I'm very happy with the stock running gear when in near new form.

My Question is how stock is stock? Mine is pretty srock exept for the Engine and Trans, But 1 Million dollers cound not persuade me to sell.(Maybe 2 Mill) You might check ebay I have seen some on there and there is one in NC that I have seen (Red Big Back Window (Might be in Hemmings).

Check the classifieds on here too. They are for sale sometimes. Kevin has been offered a fortune for his. He has not sold it. Now...the panel and the flat bed...different story.

Originals are hard to find now. Restored show trucks are around, but cost a fortune. I was going to modernize mine until I realized how close it was to original (after learning more about them). I will add a few modern things, but thats it. I have sealed beam halogen headlights instead of the "candle in the wind" originals. Eventually, I will have seat belts.

Mine will never be a show truck, but rather a driver. I want it safe, reliable and comfortable.

I purchased one last year, from the west coast. It had a totally stock cab, engine ,tranny, and wheels with painted hubcaps. Cab does not have the first rust through place anywhere. It also came with a flatbed mounted to it,
so the plan was to remove and replace with a stock bed. After receiveing it,
it was discovered that it was originally a 1/2ton longbed which had been shortened. Being sort of a stickler for details, I found an almost cherry 272, 3 speed tranny and complete running gear from Georgia on that famous internet
auction site a few months back. So sometime in the future I will totally restore it to stock, and then switch over cab and other items to come up with a stock looking restoration. Will try to stay as true to the way it would of come from the factory. For now I am fixing small details to get it ready to go to the Supernats, as is,

Thanks all.....

Really want it stock. Original motor, trans, running gear, and uncut frame. And as long as I own it... it will remain the same.

So..... what is a "fortune" on Kev's??

I just came across what looks like a beauty on of all places...."racing junk.com".

It looks very nice and the price was pretty good in my opinion....."$14,500". The truck I think was located around New York state if I remember right.
Might be worth a look.
Good luck,
Hagen

Hmmm, I forgot there is a nice Mercury here on Vancouver Island that was on Ebay last month and did not sell. Might still be availible. It was very reasonable to, and probably a little closer in distance.

If you have to ask how much....you probably can't afford his.

For a starting offer (and why he won't sell it) refer to this thread (post #23).

If I didn't already have one, and wanted a totally stock 56 I'd jump on Kev's panel, it is for sale and the price is fair for such a rare truck IMHO. Panel's turn heads even more than pickups and all that room inside. Did you know that panels have a wooden bed floor behind the seats just like the pickups?

Ax,
The panel has gone UP! I had a fellow who is into panels come and look at it (He currently has 14 panels) He said the price I was asking I'd be comming home from the supernats with an empty trailer, he says I'm $7,000 light on price! I said OMG youre kidding! He thinks the 56 panel in my unmolested cond is a $22,000 panel.

So now the panel is going to the supernats for $20,500 FIRM!

Bluedolphin,

If you read the post link that Briab B posted it tells the entire story. I truly believe at the barrert jackson auction my 56 Big window is a $75,000 plus truck.

Its not for sale at this time, but yopu cam PM me and make me a rediculous offer! Just maybe I can be bought!

granted, the drivetrain in mine wasn't stock except for the front end, but that was exactly what I was looking for. The body was a totally unmolested custom cab. I paid 11,500 for it.

Hello Kevin,

I will take a look at the thread. I am looking to spend under $40,000.00, but appreciate your taking a moment to respond. The history of the truck is important to me also.... perhaps most important.

I am sure you will find a buyer when you are ready to sell.

Looks like a nice truck just went off auction on Ebay.... I will keep looking. It took me 15 years to find my 50 F1.
