Gas Mileage on stock 2wd F-150

can anyone please share thier real world gas mileage on 2wd f150 (all engines) I am looking to buy between a 1988-1998 f150 and I am trying to figure out the best bet for gas mileage. Does the 300 6 get good mileage??

Thanks

My 4.6 V-8 gets 15-17 normally, and more on the highway. A buddy of mine has a 94 F150 with the 300 I6 and he gets about 18 on the highway.

I average 15 to 17 in town and upwards of 22 on the highway with the AC running in my 97 F-150 with the 4.6 auto.

2003 F150 Scab w/5.4 and auto, 3.55, 100% stock- in town only about 12-13, on the freeway, maybe 17. Depends how heavy your foot is. Can't have a 2 ton truck with high gas mileage. 15-17 in town, even with a 4.6, sounds really high to me.

My milage will drop off if I put my foot into it. The 15-17 is more of my combined city and highway.

It may sound high but it's true. I took a trip last week, filled up the tank, drove a total of 305 miles and it took 16.02 gallons to fill it up. I drove part of those miles around town. That works out to just over 19 miles to the gallon.

Mind you, I don't drive with my foot in the throttle. If I really push it, the mileage drops. But on average...the mileage varies from 15 to 17....honestly!

4.6 4X2 gets 16.5 in town for the last three years. Highway when I check it on its own gets just over 19. That means that I probably avg around 15 in town.

2001 Scab 5.4 4x4 auto, I get about 16 in the city with a few bolt-ons, and 20 on the highway if conservative.

300 and 4.2 six fuel milage

I have had both the 300 and 4.2 liter sixes in a two whell drive manual transmission truck. In summer on the 300 it would be 17-22 in avarage driving.
The 4.2 has a 3.55 rear end and I get the same driving combined about 20 and 22 highway only.

I've got a 4.6L auto, 2wd, reg. cab, long bed with around 52k. I usually get around 18 on average. I try to keep it under 2k on the rpms and not get to heavy in the gas most of the time. I'm also driving it mostly around 50mph on back roads to and from work.

My overall avgerage MPG is 14.4. This is from day one of ownership, purchased new. High is 18.7, low is 11.0.
Like mhamric, I keep my foot out of it, keep the RPM under 2k and drive with the cruise set for double nickles.
