Question Big Engine Problems

So my problem is that my engine will run fine for about 1.5 minuets then it dies, when it dies it acts like someone cuts off the ignition. I have had no previous problems until today. this afternoon the truck acted like my chip wasnt on, so i took it off cleaned the computer and put it back on. This is when it started really acting up. took the chip off and it still does it. My first reaction was to drain the seperator and change the filter, so I did, still no help. A freind suggested electrical, so I checked all fuses, and nothing. All help is appreciated I have been working on this for 10 hours now.

the only thing that gets me about that is there was no stalling or anything previous to lead up to this. I read in another post that aftter it dies that you can watch the tach and if it dosent move than it is the cps, any truth in this?

A cam sensor going out has several different symptoms. Seems they have a mind of their own. Mine recently went out just like yours. Truck was running fine. Started it up and 2 minutes later it died. Re-started it after a couple of tries, ran five minutes and died, restarted immediately and it died 2 minutes later.

Changed the CPS, no problems since. This is a typical issue in these trucks. Most guys carry a spare in the glove box cuz they go out so unpredictably.

i believe the kam code is from installing a chip or tuner.

I believe your right, I think you also get it when you disconnect your batteries.

kam stands for keep alive memory....it sets when you unhook your batteries or if they die from cranking too much without it starting......

I read a day or so ago from a member of this site to unplug and reconnect the cps several times. thought being that the contacts on the cps are not making a good connection.
good luck
