Smile All around best speakers????

Hey guys, I'm looking to replace all of the stock speakers in my 05 supercrew. I have a Kenwood ddx 8017 headunit. My question is what are the best, all around speakers that I can buy? I don't want anything cheap and want a really good sound. I'm not going to upgrade the sub. I'd just like to know the best brand that I can buy. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanx vancityf150

I personally like Sonys. Although a quick trip to the audio equipment store or a peek through an audio equipment catalog should show you everything you need. Way I see it, prices correspond with quality. I must say though, my Toyota packs two 6x9 Wal-Mart speakers (with Clarion grills to fool all my friends) and the sound quality is pretty good out of those. Just my opinion though.

Infinity's are awesome. They'll truly leave you speechless.

To get the best sound, you'll need to get component systems, which consist of a mid-range woofer and a tweeter for the high pitch sounds. The system will also come with a crossover to divide the signal to the appropriate speakers. The difference with a component system over a stock speaker or an aftermarket with a built in tweeters is incredible. Few things reproduce sounds better, and with a sub it will really balance out and fill the entire spectrum.

Browse www.crutchfield.com it's a great source for electronics. You may be able to find a better price locally or on eBay, just take your time and look around.

Can you buy bose speakers? I'd get those in a heartbeat if there wasn't a money issue.

Right on guys, thanx for the info. I was actually kinda leaning towards the Infinity speakers, as I have read some pretty good things about them. The stock speakers in my truck are horrible, so I can't wait to get some new ones in.

Stupid question though. What do you mean by component systems?

Yeah...get a good quality amp...some components with seperate woofers and tweeters (like I said, look at Crutchfield) and you'll notice an amazing quality and power difference.

I gotta say it really depends on your budget and if they are going to be amplified or not. If not, i would do some 6x8 alpine, infinity, or polk audio speakers.. Being owner of a car audio shop that has been in the business for several years, i would highly recommend any of those brands, you will be happy with the sound and their reliability. On top of that, you should be able to pick up a pair of those mentioned above for under $100!

Infinity or Polk Audio definately. Especially since you seem to be willing to spend a bit.

It's really best to state a price range first.

I would recommend CDT audio (www.cdtaudio.com).

I use them in my vehicle, and love them. If you want great sound quality, they are in a very select crowd.

You can PM me, if your interested in used ones.

The only flaw with them, is they aren't comfortable going below 50hz (I cut mine off at 50, ecause I have them very highly powered), so you may want a subwoofer.

Well as I type this, my speakers are being installed! I decided on Alpine components for the front and JL Audio speakers in the back. I would have done JL all around, but the Alpines were on sale, so I got a pretty good deal for everything. I think the combination of the speakers is going to sound really good. So for now, I've got a Kenwood DDX 8017 head unit and Alpine/JL audio speakers. In the future I will add an amp and a 6-10 disc changer. Can't wait to get my truck back to see how it pumps! Thanx everyone for your input, much appreciated.
