Turbocharging

Has anyone tried/heard of putting a turbo as far back as the rear bumper? I saw something on Spike TV awhile back on a Camaro. Seemed like a good therory as the intake charge would be cooled by the long pipe, lower turbo temps from the pipe being so long as well.

What tuning mods/ sensors are needed when supercharging / tuboing a 4.6Mod? Will the stock ECM handle much modifications without freaking out?

I think you might be referring to the STS Turbo. It is a turbo that is located where the muffler would normally be.

You would likely need larger injectors and a custom chip to make it all work.

Thats the one, anybody have any expirience running one of these systems? Seems that the lag would be substantial.

There was a reason behind that system on the camaro. camaro's have very little room in the engine bay, especially for something like a turbo. Locating it towards the rear of the car is a good idea in that sense, because the air is cooler, etc. The lag isn't that substantial, because the amount of piping in the system is roughly equal to that of an intercooled in engine bay setup. I'd do in inside the engine bay in an F-150, because there's plenty of room, and would be less problematic. The ECM on these trucks will not handle forced induction of any kind, and will need to be swapped, along with bigger injectors, along with a whole slew of other things.
